The deep plates/bowls feature intricate hand-painting, each bearing Seimi Giemon's distinctive signature.

Green Porcelain

Unlike the typical white porcelain, the base colour of these pieces exudes a charming retro/vintage green-blue hue, which is more vintage.
Legend hacks back to the days of Jianzhen (known as Ganjin in Japanese), a Chinese monk who journeyed to Japan during the Tang Dynasty. It's said that the porcelain he brought with him was of with green hue. During his time in Japan (743 to 754), this green porcelain gained widespread, symbolising high-class artistry.

Pine, Bamboo and Plu

The admiration for Pine, Bamboo, and Plum (known as the "Three Friends of Winter" or "Shochikubai" in Japanese, and "Song Zhu Mei" in Chinese) has deep cultural roots in both Chinese and Japanese traditions. These three plants are revered for their resilience and ability to thrive even in harsh winter conditions, symbolizing virtues such as endurance, strength, and perseverance.

Pine trees, with their evergreen foliage, represent longevity, steadfastness, and immortality in both cultures. Bamboo, known for its flexibility and strength, embodies resilience, adaptability, and integrity. Plum blossoms, often the first to bloom in late winter, symbolize hope, perseverance, and the promise of renewal in the face of adversity.
