Jerry Lewis

Joseph Levitch (March 16, 1926 – August 20, 2017), better known by his stage name Jerry Lewis, was an American comedian, actor, singer, filmmaker, and humanitarian. Dubbed "The King of Comedy" and "The Total Filmmaker," for eight decades, Lewis appeared in more than 60 film and television productions while also performing his comedy routine at nightclubs. He also ventured into behind-the-scenes work, as a director, producer, and screenwriter following a union between his company, Jerry Lewis Productions, and Paramount Pictures, and released several albums as a singer, selling millions of records. Throughout his career, Lewis sought to raise awareness for muscular dystrophy, serving as the national chairperson of the Muscular Dystrophy Association from 1966 until 2010.
