Cornerstones 2007 album Two Tales Of One Tomorrow is theirfourth studio release. This is a melodic rock project put togetherby former Rainbow/Yngwie Malmsteen/Tank vocalist Doogie White andex-Royal Hunt bassist Steen Mogensen. Similar to bands likeEvidence One, Jaded Heart and Pink Cream 69, Cornerstone has ahard-hitting yet refined melodic rock sound. Two Tales Of OneTomorrow seems a bit more laid back than previous Cornerstonereleases. Human Stain and Once Upon Our Yesterdays had a harderrocking edge to them, but this album is more refined and steers abit more towards the classic Rainbow and Deep Purple sound. Thereare more soulful and almost bluesy moments, and a maturity Inormally associate with bands that have been around a lot longer. Ithink the combination of harder rocking elements and more relaxedpassages works really well, and plays to the band’s strengths. It’sdefinitely a different kind of Cornerstone album, but Two Tales OfOne Tomorrow is an all-around impressive melodic hard rock album.It should appeal to fans of Royal Hunt and Rainbow obviously, but Ican’t see many melodic rock fans not liking thisalbum.
