Thalarionis a progressive death doom metal band from Topolcany, Slovakia.The band starts out in 1990 under the moniker of Bastard. Theyrelease two demos, Black Raven (1991) and Best Art (1993) but whenJuraj Grezdo joins then they decide to change name to FatalInfection for their third demo Behind The Doors Of Sorrow (1994).When they are offered a record deal then they change name again andthis time to Thalarion, meaning the ancient city of mad poets andflying demons (see Lovecraft’s story A White Ship). Their debutTowards The Obscure Slumberland are released in the spring of 1996.A mini album, Dominium Unfold, is recorded later that year for theUS label Wild Rags but its never released. Their second release.Tales Of The Woods Thus Was Written was released in December 1998and it was well received by the world metal scene. This is a firstclass doom death album with synths, and femaleharmonies.
