Red vinyl with gatefold cover

Extreme melodic death metal five-piece Defacing God commandnotice with their hauntingly dark and refreshingly honest debutalbum, The Resurrection Of Lilith (2022). Formed by vocalist SandieThe Lilith Gjortz and co-founder Michael Olsson (drums) in 2015 andinspired by opulent Scandinavian metal traditions, Defacing Godbase their conceptual themes on the seeping darkness that moves inus all – rooted in occultism and witchcraft, but primarily themythologically mysterious female demon Lilith and her tales offervent defiance and perseverance. Through their storytelling, music and aesthetic, the band pulls their listeners into a darkuniverse of obscure myths, folklore and ancient stories, all thewhile weaving in often subtle lyrical inspirations from modernsocietal oppressions and personal demons. Sonically, Defacing Godbalance massive extreme melodies with a twist of grandioseorchestration by Lars Vinther, echoing the styles of artists suchas Cradle of Filth, Carach Angren and Dimmu Borgir. But rather thanblend it with a conventional dose of black metal, the band proudlymerges these auras with infernal death metal. Additionally, TheResurrection Of Lilith was produced by Jacob Hansen – known for hiswork with Fleshgod Apocalypse, Volbeat, Evergrey, Epica andcountless others. The Resurrection Of Lilith arises with acinematic, chanting introduction, leading the listener into thedemonic world of Defacing God. Building up tension to release intoan uncompromising melodic, orchestral death metal assault on TheInvocation Part I Lilith, the track emerges as the first of threesongs introducing female forces of legend as a trinity to bereckoned with – the first being Lilith, Adam’s first wife, whorefused to obey and now reigns as a symbol of feminine rage andindependency, but also for the darkness found within oneself.Bookending the undeniably strong The Resurrection are parts two andthree – The Invocation Part II Jezebel” and The Invocation Part IIIAbyzou – which lead into The Rise Of Trinity, celebrating theirnecessary bond and sisterhood. The track begins quietly beforeascending into a rock-tinged introduction, soon transforming intoan all-out extreme power track carried by Gjørtz’s fierce growls, engulfing symphonics and a captivating guitar solo, resulting inone of the album’s strongest anthems. The remainder of TheResurrection of Lilith proves to be an auditory onslaught of epicproportions, seeing Defacing God unleash their supreme power andfull songwriting dynamics with varying yet unrelentinglyhard-hitting tracks like The End of Times, Echoes From Fulda, DeathFollowed Like A Plague and Enslaved. Penultimate track In The LandOf Rain And Sorrow blasts with a blackened, dense wall of soundbefore the album closes with encapsulating, symphonic Into The MistOf Memories – featuring a neo-classically inspired guitar solo. TheResurrection Of Lilith is a multifaceted, grim and bludgeoningescape that spans the arc between raw death metal and symphonicgrandiosity with ease, showcasing Defacing God’s ambition tobewitch metal fans around the world with their sonic universe ofdarkness.
