Pulver is Lifelover first full-length, it features B playingguitars, bass and piano, providing vocals and guitars, plus 1853performing additional vocals; everyone of them also providedspeeches throughout the song, and the whole band along with LRwrote the lyrics. Pulver is actually a masterpiece of innovation inthe musical world, creating in my opinion a new genre, made upmainly by different kinds of vocals combining through the songs(speeches, screams, shrieks and clean vocals), brilliant melodiesoften played by acoustic and/or electric guitars with the help ofsome piano notes, and swaps from acoustic to electric music. Theopener Nackskott is a clear example of Lifelover’s style: a somehowhappy, acoustic guitar melody takes the song into screams, only totake back the former acoustic melody, which then fades into aheavy, electric part in whichs vocals keep on changing from harshto clean. Pulver is, to me, one of the best albums of the lastyears, and its variety is so wide that it can not be included intoone or more genres: we have black metal, acoustic piano music,clean vocals mixed up with speeches, screams and growls, electricand acoustic guitars combined and many other kinds of music whichis useless to expand upon. Lifelover’s genius, managed by B’sinsane amounts of creativity, emerges in a pure way on Pulver, away which will still evolve in the next albums, gaining more heavyand electric sounds on Dekadens and Sjukdom, or more instrumentalmelodies on Erotik; thus, Pulver is highly recommended to virtuallyanyone since its songs are one more beautiful than the other,greatly different and featuring dozens of astonishing, innovative,extremely catchy melodies.
