At first glance,Acheron seemed like your run-of-the-mill, early-90s death/blackmetal band no different from hundreds of others ripening like somany oranges under the Florida sunshine. But a closer look quicklyrevealed the groups altogether more sinister mission, one thatreflected the devil-worshiping ways of leader and guitarist VincentCrowley, who, in his spare time, helmed a Satanic youth group namedThe Order Of The Evil Eye, in fact, Crowleys anti-Christian viewswould gain him far more notoriety than his music in the comingyears. Over the ensuing years, Crowley committed more time todebating local televangelists than writing music. In 1996 the bandreleased their fourth full length album, Anti-god Anti-christ, andit would be an album that showcased what Acheron was all about somemidpaced catchy death metal driven by straightforward drums andbarking vocals of Vincent Crowley. On this album the bandintegrated more keyboards into the actual music, rather thanrelegating them to just the traditional intro tracks between eachsong. The intros were at this time a big thing for the band andwithout them the album would be considered an EP. The band alsoincludes a cover version of Nons Total War.
