Formed in2002, Tears Of Mankind is a solo project of Russian composerPhilipp Skobelin. His compositions aim toward a somber Doomdirection with hints of Gothic, while sophisticated orchestrationcomes in to add a melodic side to a more crunchy and heavy overallatmosphere. This is his debut, but amongst the tracks are foundsome titles taken from his earlier ten demos. One remarkable aspectof Without Ray Of Hope is that it was recorded in his home studiowith outstanding sound quality. Plenty of music to move thelistener into that doom metal realm. Certain songs give a Tears ofMankind that mood not so easily created by other bands, a darkenedbut glorified mood. You hear parts that will remind you of My DyingBride and Paradise Lost. Not all songs can impress on the samelevel but the wide variety makes this album sointeresting
