False Hope Cruelty is the second albumfrom the Swedish black metal band Revenge Prevails and it wasreleased in the autumn of 2017. This band was formed in Uddevalla2008 and they have a sturdy Satyricon-esque second wave foundationand builds on it with some solid death metal bricks. With 71minutes of content to get through, False Hope Cruelty can be adaunting listen in some ways, but although not perfect, this isstill a very strong album and its length hopefully won´t put youoff if you´re in the mood for this kind of thing. Production wiseits a bit rough around the edges and scream self-produced. Themajority of the vocals are traditional blackened screams, with deepgrunts adding some death metal muscle to the mix. The album isclearly good when you first approach it, but when you really startto get to know the album that´s when its starts to shine with areal dark lustre. There´s some really, really good material on thisalbum, and Revenge Prevails have shown they are a band that´s worthinvesting the time in.
