The Submariner Date Ref. 16613 was introduced in 1983 as the first two-tone variant of Rolex’s professional dive watch. By combining Oystersteel with 18 ct yellow gold, Rolex preserved the Submariner’s tool-watch credentials while giving it a dress-appropriate appearance. This 2007 example belongs to the final years of the “five-digit” era—recognized for slimmer lugs, an aluminum bezel insert, and the workhorse Caliber 3135.
