Today, all but two of the original Awakasi researchers are dead. With traces of Awakasi-style engineering now surfacing in the members of a dangerous terrorist cell, which of the two remaining scientists could be responsible for assisting the terrorists? Only Dr. Lek Tribe and Dr. Helen Manning know the answers to these questions. Dr. Tribe has had no involvement with the 'supers' business since the Awakasi days, but he can't take any chances, and enlists The Watch, Inc. for his protection. The powers of Susan Mathews, the newest recruit of The Watch, Inc., will be put to the test when she is sent as bodyguard for Dr. Tribe. She will be his only defense as the supers seek Dr. Tribe in their search for truth...and the most twisted super-villains track him for the key to unlock super-humanity.
