Lovely receiver. I wish the tuner was a bit more sensitive but it picks up the main BBC Radio stations so i won't complain. The sound is reasonably warm and there's more than enough power to power my big JBL TLX-9 GI Speakers which although a low power rating, ideally need more than 40wpc, which the 50 (or 55 as some people say this is actually 55wpc) is more than enough. It sometimes lacks bass but i think the pots are a bit worn out on mine. I must look into replacing or fixing them in future to see if the issue can be resolved. It looks lovely at night too and feels of reasonable build quality. If you're looking for a good receiver that gets the job done and gives you hours of listening pleasure. Look no further than this. I'll never be buying mediocre 90s & 2000s amps again after the sound of this JVC.

Built when the ultra popular Pioneer SX-780 dominated the 45-50 watt class of receivers. The JVC R-S7 delivers 50 watts with a sound quality that gave is rival a run for it's money. It lacks a few of the bells and whistle's of the 780 but with the black analog dial has a elegant look and the build quality is certainly equal to it's rival.
Overall the performance of the JVC is terrific and it may never garner the respect it deserves but anyone who owns one knows it's fine receiver that has stood the test of time.
