Liten, men en mycket sällsynt meteorit klass: Winonaite
Vikt: 1,2 Gram.
Mått: 14x10x7 mm.

In Ghar 001 meteoriten hittades i Algeriet år 2021 och har en TKW på endast 5,71kg. Winonaite klassen är en sk primitive Achondrite som i sin tur är en meteorit fom har förlorat sin chondritiska struktur pga upphettning och partiell smältning.

Classification: Primitive achondrite (Winonaite)
History:A single stone with a high iron content, was found by a person was working his land (20 km NE of In Ghar) between the Algerian villages of In Ghar and In Salah. A subsequent search by Yahdih Buhali Omar and associates recovered several kilos of this material (1 g - 2.9 kg). Adrián Contreras Gómez (CRATER meteorites), purchased the
samples in Algeria on February 22, 2022.
Physical characteristics: Dark-brown fusion crust coats a portion of
the sample. The back side of the sample has a large area of exposed
FeNi that covers half the surface. The cut face shows the sample is a
crystalline mixture of FeNi metal grains and coarse-grained
silicates.

Sample shows poikiloblastic texture composed of (vol%):
0.5mm-cm-sized enstatite (35) and high Ca pyroxene (9) oikocrysts
enclosing 165 µm (ave. grainsize) olivine chadacrysts (32), anhedral
twinned albitic plagioclase (15); FeNi metal (6); troilite (3).
Olivine also occurs in lumps of equigranular grains interstitial to
oikocrysts. Additional minerals are: graphite (associated with
silicates and metals), schreibersite, apatite. materials and 8 vol%
FeNi metal. Secondary plagioclase has an average grainsize of 88 µm,
n=14. Additional minerals are: high Ca pyroxene, chromite, troilite
and merrillite.
Geochemistry:
(A. Love, App) Olivine (Fa4.0±0.1, Fe/Mn=22.3±1.8, n=10), enstatite (Fs4.7±0.2Wo1.5±0.2,
Fe/Mn=14.9±1.2, n=21); high Ca pyroxene (Fs1.6±0.2Wo44.6±0.2, Fe/Mn=11.9±4.0, n=6), plagioclase (An21.4±0.5Or2.6±0.1, n=5).
Classification:
Primitive achondrite (Winonaite) Based on abundance of metal and
composition of silicates, sample is a winonaite. Grainsize and
texture are comparable to Hammadah
al Hamra 193 (Floss
et al., 2007).
