Judi tenía una voz ronca, casi tan áspera como Janis Joplin a veces, o cantantes posteriores como Bonnie Tyler y Kim Carnes.

La historia de Judy empieza con el famoso guitarrista de sesión Waddy Watchel, que apareció en álbumes de Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Keith Richards y otros. Había tocado en bandas de Nueva Inglaterra desde que era un adolescente y Judi estaba en su última banda allí, dos veces Muy bien, haciendo teclados y voz.
