Logitech Harmony Companion — The Last Great Universal Remote
There was a brief, beautiful period in home entertainment when one remote could rule them all. Instead of six increasingly bewildered plastic rectangles fighting for space on the coffee table, you had one remote that actually understood the assignment.
Meet the Logitech Harmony Companion. A wonderfully nerdy piece of home-entertainment history from the era when Logitech decided that operating a living room shouldn’t require a degree in remote-control engineering.
Logitech Harmony Companion. Designed for multi-device home entertainment systems. Works with the Harmony ecosystem. Physical buttons — because sometimes tactile feedback is a feature. Activities instead of endless button hunting
This particular remote has been used extensively. It has been loved, handled, pressed, dropped onto sofas, picked up again, and generally lived the full and meaningful life of a remote control. So let’s be honest: this isn’t a pristine collector’s piece.
I’ve done my best to photograph the condition and show the signs of use, but it has definitely earned its battle scars.
And that might actually make it rather interesting. Perhaps your Harmony Companion is looking a little worse for wear. Perhaps a button has finally decided that retirement sounds appealing. Perhaps you need a spare?
Or perhaps you’re the sort of person who simply refuses to surrender a perfectly good Harmony setup to the modern world of “just use the app.” If so, this could be the little piece of nostalgia you’ve been looking for.
Because there was something deeply satisfying about pressing “Watch TV” and having an entire entertainment system spring obediently to life.
TV on.
Receiver on.
Correct input selected.
Everything ready.
One button. No negotiations.
That wasn’t merely remote control. That was domestic orchestration.
And although this particular Companion has already lived a long and useful life, perhaps it has a few more scenes left in it.
For repair. For parts. For a spare. Or for someone who simply isn’t ready to say goodbye to Harmony yet.
A little worn. A little nostalgic. And still carrying the quiet dignity of a remote that once made an entire living room dance.
