I will update more pictures soon.

The Polhem lock is an early type of padlock invented by Christopher Polhem, a Swedish inventor, engineer, and industrialist, in the 18th century.

Polhem lock is
•A mechanical lock made mostly from brass or iron
•Known for its cylinder shape with rotating discs inside
•No spring mechanisms—pure mechanical precision
•Often used in mining and industrial sites in Sweden

How it works:
•Inside the lock are multiple rotating discs with notches
•You insert a specially shaped key that aligns all the discs when turned
•When the discs align at the correct positions, the locking bar can move and the lock opens

Why it’s cool (and important):
•One of the earliest combination-style or disc-detainer locks
•Set the foundation for modern disc-detainer locks (like the Abloy)
•Built tough, simple, and resistant to rust—ideal for harsh environments like mines

Fun fact:

Polhem is called the “Father of Swedish mechanics”, and his lock was so badass that modern lockpickers still study it for its genius simplicity and durability.
