Terry Gilliam directs this adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's cult novel. Journalist Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) and his lawyer Dr. Gonzo (Benicio Del Toro) drive to Las Vegas with a car full of illegal drugs, ostensibly to cover a motorcycle race and a law enforcement conference. What follows is a hallucinatory, relentless rampage through the excess and decay of the American Dream. One of the most visually inventive and faithful adaptations of an ostensibly unfilmable book. The cast also includes Tobey Maguire, Cameron Diaz and Gary Busey.
