Michael Powell directs this controversial classic horror starring Carl Boehm as sadistic photographer Mark Lewis. Mark, a focus puller working for a local film studio, earns extra cash by photographing glamour shoots in his studio. His willing clients, however, are completely unaware that they have stumbled into a murder scene - where Mark will torture and kill his victims, capturing their expressions as they die. Mark's focus begins to shift to a woman living below the studio, Helen (Anna Massey) who Mark quickly becomes obsessed with, but will she uncover his cruelties before she becomes his next target?
