1990s–Early 2000s CERTINA DS × SCHLOSSGOLD Racing Team Windbreaker Jacket Made in Portugal

I could not find another example of this exact jacket online, which makes me believe it is quite a rare piece.

—————

Era and identification:

Likely late 1990s to early 2000s promotional racing team windbreaker featuring CERTINA DS and SCHLOSSGOLD sponsor graphics.

Produced by SWITCHER, a well known Swiss apparel company widely used for corporate uniforms, event merchandise, and premium promotional garments throughout Europe during the period.

Made in Portugal.

This piece appears to originate from the real European motorsport sponsorship world rather than modern fashion reinterpretation. The combination of a Swiss watch company and an Austrian non alcoholic beer brand gives it a very authentic late 90s European racing atmosphere.

—————

Material:

Outer fabric:
100% nylon polyamide

Lining:
50% cotton
50% polyester

—————

Design:

Black nylon shell with snap front closure, elastic cuffs, adjustable drawcord hem, and soft jersey lining.

The back graphic is the highlight of the jacket. Large checker flag inspired artwork combined with distorted “Swiss Action Time” typography and an abstract red racing helmet or watch inspired illustration creates a very strong late 90s visual identity.

It carries the strange futuristic optimism that many European racing and technology brands experimented with around the turn of the millennium.

The CERTINA DS logo is especially interesting. “DS” stands for “Double Security,” Certina’s famous shock resistant and waterproof watch technology introduced in 1959 (I own very coold 2 of 1960s automatics). Among vintage watch enthusiasts, DS models are respected for their durability and engineering.

SCHLOSSGOLD was an Austrian non alcoholic beer brand heavily connected to active lifestyle marketing and motorsport sponsorship during the era. The “Bier ohne Alkohol” text directly translates to “beer without alcohol.”

Rather than a fashion collaboration, this jacket feels like a genuine staff or sponsor item connected to an actual racing environment, which gives it significantly more character than modern artificially designed “vintage style” pieces.

Size and fit:

Please rely on measurements shown in photos rather than tag size.

—————

Condition and wear:

Vintage condition with normal signs of age and use.

Some cracking and wear present on printed graphics as shown in photos.

No major structural damage observed.

—————

History:

CERTINA has long connections to motorsport and endurance timing culture. During the 1990s and early 2000s, the company sponsored rally teams, racing events, and Formula related motorsport activities, using slogans such as “Swiss Action Time.”

Switcher itself is also an interesting detail. In Switzerland, the brand became known for dependable high quality promotional garments rather than disposable giveaway clothing. Their Portugal-made production from this era is often noticeably better than generic event jackets.

What makes this piece compelling is not luxury status, but authenticity. It feels like an actual surviving artifact from European paddock culture, where watch brands, beverage companies, and racing teams all intersected before motorsport merchandise became overly polished and corporate.

Important vintage note:

This is a vintage second-hand item. Minor imperfections, slight color differences, light wear, and variations due to screen settings are natural and expected with age. These characteristics are part of the item’s history and authenticity. Post-purchase discount requests based on minor vintage traits will not be accepted. If you are looking for a perfect, mint condition item, please avoid this.
