The sale of certain plants and seeds is regulated by Swedish law and EU legislation. Some species are protected, and others can carry pests and diseases that harm nature and agriculture. To comply with the law and protect the environment, we have rules for what may be sold on Tradera.
Prohibited to sell
Invasive species
Plants that may not be brought into the EU, for example seed potatoes, grapevines and citrus plants from countries outside the EU
Seeds shown with pictures of a different plant than the one the seeds produce, or with pictures that have been edited so that they do not show what the finished plant or fruit looks like
Orchids and most cactus species that are not artificially propagated
Protected species
Plants and wooden items from protected species may only be sold if you can show that you have the right to sell them. This applies, for example, to Brazilian rosewood, orchids and most cactus species.
Brazilian rosewood, also known as Rio rosewood. Brazilian rosewood is protected under CITES, and items made from the wood may only be sold with a certificate from the Swedish Board of Agriculture. Other rosewood, for example Indian rosewood, may be sold. Please state the type of wood in the listing.
All types of orchids
Most cactus species
Only artificially propagated specimens of these plants may be sold.
Permitted to sell, with restrictions
Orchids and cacti that are artificially propagated
Plants, plant parts and seeds that require a phytosanitary certificate, as long as the certificate is clearly shown in the listing. If you are located outside the EU, you are responsible for making sure the item complies with the Swedish Board of Agriculture's rules.
Items made from Brazilian rosewood that have a certificate from the Swedish Board of Agriculture
Permitted to sell
Rosewood other than Brazilian rosewood, for example Indian rosewood
