Upon the USA entering the Second World War, Bulova began manufacturing wristwatches for the US military.

Together with Elgin and Waltham, Bulova was contracted to produce the A-11 Avigation “Hack” wristwatch, which was to be made in accordance with US government specifications. The specification called for a minimum 15-jewel hand wound hacking movement with centre seconds, an outer minute track with 10-minute demarcations, and minute and hour hands.

AF-43 stands for Air Force and 1943, the year it was made. 10 AKCSH is for the caliber 10AK and Central Seconds Hack (the hack feature). This hack feature allowed soldiers to synchronize their watches to the second for coordinated missions. By pulling out the crown soldiers could stop the seconds hand, providing a precise moment to begin a synchronized countdown or operation.

Bulova has boldly stated that the A-11 was “the watch that won the war” and has recently produced a modern-day version which is based on the iconic A-11 design.

The A-11 wristwatch has a significant history and the example for sale is definitely a nice example, making it an ideal purchase for any serious military watch collector. A TRUE WWII survivor.

Condition:
The usual scratches and dings, in accordance with age. Wear and tear, dings and scratches. Wear to the chromium plating on the case. Wear to the crown etc. But...this is a watch that has been through war!
The watch seems to run okay and wind smoothly, but as with all vintage watches NO guarantees are given on functionality. They are always sold as needing a service.

Hopefully needless to say, but I will say it anyway - nothing else is included in the sale but the watch and the two straps. Everything else you see in the pictures is not included in the sale.

This will only be sent insured and tracked with Postnord. Preferably pick up in person.

Sent as Rek Post, cost 147 SEK, tracked and insured up to 10.000 SEK.

For international shipping please ask in advance before bidding! Postage will be more expensive and I am not sending it abroad without full tracking and insurance!
