Bang & Olufsen Beomaster 2000 radio.

I am a retired Electronics Engineer former Radiomechanic also , doing repairs as a hobby. This is NOT A BUISNESS !

This UNIT was given to me to save it from the scrap yard. It was dead on arrival and had all the usual issues these models have. Spend much more time on this than is reasonable considering the prices these sell for but i find it hard to scrap things from when i started out as a Radio and TV mechanic apprentise .

Cosmetics . Decent , tried to capture the most important scratches/dents on the pictures. A dent in the wood at the MONO button , scratch in the wood at right corner , scratch in the black faceplate around the FM presets. A few missing veneer spots. But i have seen a lot worse . However do not expect a MINT looking unit.

Repairs :

Mechanical :

Broken plastics
- RADIO SCALE system , reinforced/glued etc.
- FM presets , regluing all the small turning wheels on the POT's.
- DIN connector locks broken , glued to chassis so they dont pull out anymore .
Broken wooden cabinet , corners reglued.

Electrical:

- Power supply RECTIFIER shorted , replaced.
- MAIN power supply AL-electrolytic leaking , replaced.
- RIGHT channel output transistor short , replaced .
- Lighting missing , converted to LED.
- Controls , cleaned.
- Remaining AL- Electrolytics replaced , only 6 pcs. in total in this RADIO :).
- A few critical BLACK-LEG syndrome transistors in the output amplifiers replaced.
- BIAS Pot's replaced.
- DC offset optimized , input differential transistors replaced with MATCHED PAIRS !

Testing/verification:

Distortion verification , THD .
BIAS/OFFSET .
Frequency responses
- Overall
- RIAA equalization for the PHONO amplifiers
- BASS/TREBLE functionality
- LOUDNESS functionality
All good complying well with spec.
Voltage selector adjusted to 240V setting !
FM radio works well , pulls many stations with only a wire.
AM radio , seem to work however there are really no stations anymore and i dont have the needed equipment to do proper RADIO testting.

So MANY MANY hours is put in to this unit , ENJOY it .

SHIPPING : I use TRADERA ONLY ! Which means i can only chose BRING as courier. They have strict size and weight conditions i have to meet which is why i PACK before i make the ADD so the shipping cost shown by TRADERA is the CORRECT ONE !

I suffer from a severe chronical STRESS condition which is why i take every measure to avoid any stress assosiated whit these auctions.

1. My packaging is evaluated sufficient to avoid any shipping damages , you see my packaging on the pictures attached.

2. In the unlikely event of shipping damage it is your own responsibility to forward any claims towards the shipping company and document the damage . I just cannot assist . So when you receive the package start taking pictures BEFORE any unpacking and as you unpack , this way you have the documentation you need.

3. There is NO RETURN and NO WARRANTY involved. I have done everything possible to detect any issues and correct failures. With VINTAGE HiFi it is to be expected that failures can surface ANY TIME and equipment requires periodic maintenance. Regardless of how many components i have replaced the majority are still vintage . It is no different than with a VETERAN CAR !
