Nice little receiver that I paid almost nothing for. Very reminiscent of my Pioneer SX450. For those who say the power is underrated, it’s accurate. You just need to get out from under the Chinese spell of overstated everything. Also, if you are concerned about specs, you should know how to read them.

Very good receiver. I own this receiver with a couple of Sony's (str-series). Sound from the JVC R-S5 is very clean. Nice bass and clear treble. The JVC R-S5 is way better compared to my Sony's.

and jvc in general got great vintage recivers
This recivers sells aprox $200 a
nd sound way better then
many pricy amps like marantz etc ... strage
people just need to.listen blind

Nice receiver from JVC, an underestimated brand from this era. This one sounds very similar as his big brother, the R-S7. I own both of them. Solid build quality. Clean clear sound, good bass and clear treble.

re: R-S5Submitted by singlesound on December 25th, 2018.I hadn't expected to find it before Christmas, but I finally found it and in very good conditions. No maintenance yet and it has a fine stereo sound with proportional bass ad treble. At the moment it's working with a pair of 4 ohms bookshelf speakers and is doing really well. The build looks and feels really solid with a firm front panel and with very well distributed shiny silver knobs.
