Theatre OfTragedy/Leaves Eyes vocalist Liv Kristine Espenaes first solo albumDeus Ex Machina shows another softer side of this Norwegian singer.It is, for the most part, experimental and sparse with a number ofcuts that have a techno feel. There are also a couple of cuts thatdraw from Norwegian fokelore. The best song on the disc is In TheHeart Of Juliet, which is something that could be in heavy rotationon any soft rock radio station. Good Vibes, Bad Vibes is anotherstrong track and of course the track 3 A.M. that features a duetwith Paradise Lost vocalist Nick Holmes. 3 AM shows Livs vocalrange the best. Kristine possesses a soprano vocal range. Only twotracks on this album were co-written by Liv Kristine and that’s thetitle track and In the Heart Of Juliet.
