Zeno, namedafter the Greek philosopher Zeno of Citium, is a German actspecializing in majestic Rock epics led by Jochen ‘Joe’ Roth. Thisalbum takes up where he left off with his 1994 album ‘Zenology’.This time around a few things have changed. ‘Zenology’ used theband Fair Warning to provide much of the instrumental backup, withsinger Michael Flexig. That, and the fact the album was recordedover a few years. On ‘Listen To The Light’ vocalist Flexig is back,and in tremendous voice, while Zeno plays all of the instrumentshimself. The album, although a long time coming was recorded in theone time frame. This has helped Zeno create a smoother running andslightly more consistent record than ’Zenology’. Even though thatalbum had no bad tracks on it, this new album runs through thetracks with a more even pace. The style hasn’t changed much though,and from the first track we are blown away with these hugebombastic guitar chords and soaring vocals. A good and slightlymore consistent record that once again serves as a vehicle forZeno’s talents and dare I say indulgences. Buy it if you loveeverything louder than everything else, and biggertoo.
