Falconer isone of those bands where if one album agrees with a person, prettymuch the whole discography will. From A Dying Ember is a recordthat maintains this band’s consistent greatness for those that havefollowed them over the past 19 years, while also blazes amodernized, punchy production trail for newcomers that might findtheir earlier offerings a tad low-fi by comparison. They hascontinued to be a wild card in the power metal scene, despitechanging their format very little over the past two decades. Butfor what this approach may now lack in novelty, it also showcases aband undaunted by the changing musical landscape of the day with ahighly potent delivery that shows zero signs of wavering. Come foryour metal fix, where ingredients are a mixture of a forbiddingmetallic battery with a 100% saccharine sweet vocal delivery. Thisalbum has been years of work. Some of the earlier material wasscrapped and re-written halfway into the process; additionally,Stefan re-wrote one song with his old Mithotyn bandmate, KarlBeckmann (guitars/keyboards). The echoes from Mithotyn are surelynoticeable on the track Rapture. Stefan comments: Finally, we gotthe chance to incorporate some keyed fiddle and bagpipe into themusic – something that has always been a wish from us, just to getthat extra medieval and folky feel to it. In that time, we alsowrote the most intense ballad ever, which turned out to be ‘RejoiceThe Adorned’ – only featuring piano, keys and strings. Stefanconcludes: To sum the album up, we can say that From A Dying Emberhas some things that really stand out from a usual Falconer album.A lot of things happening and more elements to the music than everbefore. From A Dying Ember is said to be Falconer’s swan song andfor fans of the band it wont dissapoint
