Shape OfThe New Sun was formed in a rehearsal studio. The meaning of theband was to meet to jam. Four musicians with different musicalbackgrounds. Thomas Kihlberg (Guitar / vocals) has released severalalbums with Orchid and Animan. Tomas Persic (drums and percussion)was a member of the successful Lambretta in the early 2000s.Together with Ivan Persic (guitar) and Håkan Holmström (bass) theyformed Shape Of The New Sun in September 2014. Musically, Shape OfThe New Sun sound is inspired by the Scandinavian Melodic Hard Rockscene from the late 80s / early 90s with a groove from the Britishhard rock style from the same era. Yeah, I hear some Thunder onBabylon or Don’t Let It Fall, a bit of Whitesnake in When TheCurtain Falls, and title track brings to mind Jagged Edge UK.However, the rest is clearly Scandi: The Pain has a Damned Nationtrademark melody all over, Ghost From The Past and Worth Dying Forakin Jeff Scott Soto’s Humanimal, and Divine is in the Bad Habitmold. Above all these comparisons, Shape Of The New Sun add theirown spin with a modern production, and especially, a distinctiveguitar sound, which make Dying Embers feel quite original. Thesongs are diverse avoiding repetitiousness, the band is very tightand Thomas Kihlberg’s deep vocal performance really solidthroughout the entire album. A mature debut from a new band (butcomprising experienced musicians). Stronglyrecommended
