Back in 1999 the New York scene was filled new and up-comingbands that were into technical and brutal death metal that was morereadily detached from thrash metal than the Floridian variety. Withthat, it seems, comes a colder, more nihilistic approach as opposedto wrath and rage. Such descriptors are especially a dead ringerfor the mighty Immolation, one of the most consistent andcalculating purveyors of blasphemous death metal. The two tracks onthis limited shaped picture disc are taken from that time, namelyfrom Immolations 1999 album Failures For Gods. The A-side featuresthe epic title track, truly one of those classic death metalmasterpieces. The B-side The Devil I Know is a doomy, somber andbitter cut that serve as the soundtrack for the flames totallyengulfing the ruins created by the title track on the A-side.
