Within the Swedish heavy metal community, Leif Edling is reveredas one of its most prolific songwriters. Alongside his renownedwork with Candlemass, he has also spearheaded projects like Kruxand Avatarium, showcasing his enduring creativity. When news brokeof his direct involvement in yet another band, speculation soon ranrampant within the community. That band is The Crypt, based out ofStockholm, Sweden. With a concept centered around a metalpriestess, The Crypt’s debut album The Crypt delves into themes ofdarkness, death, and the undead, echoing the vibes of 1970s gothicand occult bands such as Coven, Blue Öyster Cult, Black Sabbath,and Pentagram. All music and lyrics are written by Edling andrecorded with top-tier Swedish musicians under the guidance ofproducer Marcus Jidell, the album effortlessly combines darkatmospheres with catchy melodies and powerful riffs, reminiscent ofrock’s most golden era.
