Closer to Home es un gran álbum con algunos momentos para la posterioridad como el pelotazo que supone “Aimless Lady” —¡temazo de los que hacen historia!—; la pegada funky de “Nothing Is the Same”; ese final mágico con “I'm Your Captain” y sobre todo esa obra de arte que supone la oscura “Mean Mistreater”, gran letra y para mí el punto álgido del álbum. También resaltaría ese “Get It Together” que funciona como una coda para “Mean Mistreater” y tiene un no se qué que me recuerda a Sly and the Family Stone; y las notables “Sin's a Good Man's Brother” y “I Don't Have to Sing the Blues”
De los mejorcito y más constante de la banda, Closer to Home es el disco que los catapultó a la fama mundial, con el tema homónimo siendo la pieza principal pero sin quitarle brillo al resto de las canciones. El Power Trio adquiere en este LP su mayor madurez musical, y cada uno se expresa en su instrumento de la manera más correcta en que podían hacerlo. Un genial disco de una genial banda, ambientado todo con el trasfondo de la guerra de Vietnam. Escucha obligada.
