Facebook: Funzone’s 1977 debut, and lone album. This killer album is an LA studio session musician supergroup. There were a handful of similar outfits recording albums around this time. Of course, it has the time of unique backstory Henrique Hopkins and I enjoying exploring. Funzone the brainchild of LA character actor/musician Tim McIntrre, whose the lead singer/guitarist and even occasional fiddle player on this. McIntire would even go onto portray two famous musical figures in Allen Freed and George Jones. This album has lots of unique elements to it, along with a quirky and subversive lyrical approach. My favorites here are the bluesy Dixieland infused ”Back To Havana”, “Stinko The Narc”, “Bad Girl” and the raw dog funk of ”B’Dango”. Just the sort of album that would go very well with Little Feat for further musical reference.
