Turkey – 50 Kurus 1948 – .600 Silver
An original 1948 Turkish 50 Kurus silver coin, issued by the Republic of Turkey and struck in .600 fine silver. This type was produced only in 1947 and 1948, making it a short-lived silver denomination from the early Republican period.
The obverse features the Turkish crescent and star, surrounded by the inscription TÜRKIYE CUMHURIYETI, with the date 1948.
The reverse displays the denomination 50 KURUS within a decorative wreath.
Specifications:
The surfaces display grey toning, darker staining, oxidation and numerous age-related marks. Despite the wear, it remains an interesting example of post-war Turkish silver coinage with both numismatic and intrinsic silver appeal.
Please study the photographs carefully for an accurate impression of the condition, toning and surface characteristics. The coin pictured is the exact example offered.
