Beskrivning
WWII–Early 1950s Swedish Army Winter Over-Boots (m/1944 type) – Approx. 35 cm Outsole
A pair of Swedish Army winter over-boots, manufactured around 1944–early 1950s during Sweden’s modernization of its Arctic and cold-weather military gear. These boots were designed for extreme winter service, intended to be worn over standard field boots or thick wool socks to provide insulation and protection against snow and sub-zero temperatures.
Constructed from heavy quilted canvas reinforced with top-grain leather panels, and secured by multiple adjustable leather straps, they represent one of the most durable and distinctive winter footwear designs of the mid-20th century. The stitched leather soles bear the Swedish Three Crowns (“Tre Kronor”) military property stamp — a mark reserved for official government issue.
Usage & Function
These over-boots were standard equipment for soldiers stationed in northern Sweden, border patrols, and field units operating in snow or on frozen terrain. Their layered structure provided both thermal insulation and wind protection, while the buckle-strap system allowed a secure fit over various footwear types. The design balanced warmth, mobility, and ease of removal — crucial for military operations in harsh Scandinavian winters.
