Special Operations Center ”East” ”Prince Svyatoslav Khorobroy” (OC SpO).
Special Operations Center East, commonly known as the 3rd Special Purpose Regiment, is a specialized unit within the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces. It was originally established in 1992 from the 10th Special Purpose Brigade of the Soviet Army. In June 1998, the unit was reorganized as the 1st Special Purpose Regiment, and in 2000, it was renamed the 3rd Special Purpose Regiment.
On January 5, 2016, the Special Operations Forces were established as a separate branch of the Ukrainian military, and the 3rd Regiment was integrated into this newly formed command. In June 2014, regiment soldiers defended military storage bases in Bakhmut and participated in search and rescue (SAR) operations in eastern Ukraine. Since 2018, the unit has transitioned to NATO standards, adopting its structure, organization, and procedures.
In 2019, the 3rd Special Purpose Regiment was officially reformed as the Special Operations Center East.
Since 2018, the regiment has been named after Prince Svyatoslav the Brave, the ruler of Kievan Rus' of the 10th century.Active: January 1, 1992 –
