A fantastic vintage Stanwell pipe, handmade in briar wood with beautiful grain.
The mouthpiece has the original Stanwell crown “S” stamp and shows normal surface wear at the bite point.
Between the mouthpiece and the shank, a small piece of paper has been inserted by the previous owner (to improve the airtight fit).

The underside is stamped "55 Handmade" and "Stanwell Regd No 96/9".
The number “96” is clear, but the last digit is harder to read (could be 969).
This matches the early Stanwell registration numbers designed by master carver Sixten Ivarsson, making it an especially rare piece.

Condition: Good vintage condition with signs of use and tobacco residue. Structurally sound and fully usable. Looks fantastic
