It hasn't been used very much and are in a new condition. Probably of bad tapes that have been used many times and are in bad condition it can spin them while flushing.
The batteri works and charges. It may have lost some capacity!
A new back up battery is needed.
This camera is bought new in Malmö - Sweden exactly at the end days of 2001.
