Beowulf is the oldest writing in Old English ever found (10th century). The story is about the warrior Beowulf, a powerful Germanic, who must kill the monster Grendel. When he manages to defeat the monster Grendel after a bloody battle, he is crowned king. This story was the inspiration for the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
