Beskrivning

Andy Warhol - Portraits of Ingrid Bergman, by Galerie Börjeson

Inspired by the recent death of Ingrid Bergman (1915-1982), Warhol collaborated with Per-Olov Börjeson, director of the Galerie Börjeson (1969-2005) to publish an accordion book featuring three new screen-prints of this well-known actor. The result is a stunning 40-foot-long accordion, printed on thick and glossy paper that complements well the different coloured versions of Bergman presented here.

On the inside of the two book covers are quotes by Warhol, and in his typical fashion they hide more than they reveal, but they make good reading anyway... with such beauties as "my paintings never turn out the way I expect them to but I'm never surprised," and "I never wanted to be a painter. I wanted to be a tap-dancer."

Stunning catalogue that unfolds to show 48 brightly coloured silkscreen portraits of the actress Ingrid Bergman. The portraits done in typical Warhol style features 3 different portraits of Bergman, 1 from Casablanca, 1 of her as a nun from The Bells of St. Mary, and a studio portrait from the 40's. All are bright and colourful and are printed on heavy glossy stock that pulls out in accordion fashion. There is also one B & W photo portrait of Warhol on the frontispiece by Christopher Makos along with several Warholian quotes.

Created as an accordion-album with stiff boards. Black with yellow lettering. Front board an original silk screen - "With hat" - of Ingrid Bergman and rear board with a coloured photo of Andy Warhol in his studio with a Bergman-portrait in his hand. Below that a quotation from Warhol in English and Swedish: "I’d prefer to remain a mystery." etc. Interior print only on one side. The first page with Andy Warhol's autograph printed in white and the next page with a black and white photo reproduction of Warhol by Christopher Makos. The next two pages with texts in English and Swedish about Warhol by Per Olov Börjeson. Then in all 48 variations, trial proofs in colour, on glossy paper, framed in black, to be folded up. Inside both boards quotations from Warhol in English and Swedish in white lettering. For ex: "If you want to know all about Andy Warhol, just look at the surface of my paintings and films and me, there I am. There’s nothing behind it."
