Burt Lancaster stars in this Western directed by Robert Aldrich. Following the surrender of Geronimo (Monte Blue), the Apache warrior Massai (Lancaster) is captured and sent by train to a reservation in Florida. He escapes in Oklahoma and begins a long journey home, determined to fight for his family and his land. However, he is pursued relentlessly and as he continues his fight, he is betrayed and forced to question his place in the world. The cast also includes Jean Peters, Charles Bronson and John McIntire.
