Abhorred was athrash grinding death machine featuring members from Grief,Noosebomb, Verminizer and Distrupt who came together inMassachusetts back in 2003 to create relentless music thatsometimes seems to border to becoming just uncontrolled fury. Theyrecorded the Walloing In Utter Chaos in 2005 and broke up after theonline release of their 2007 EP, None Shall Be Spared. This EP havenow been released on this tape and it featuers the last materialthe band ever released as a group. Abhorred took influences fromevery corner of the underground scene, with notes taken from black, death, thrash, grind, and hardcore. It’s not that there arepassages for each, but rather that all those influences have beensynthesized into one catchall extreme metal sound. It sometimessounds really cool while at times it can also be a very unevenlistening experience. The riffs have a thrash base with otherinfluences layered on top, occasionally bursting into black metaltremolo or death metal chugging, while the vocals alternate betweena throaty shout and piercing screech. You could describe the soundas pretty resolutely oldschool, even though I doubt you could findan oldschool band that sounds even remotely like the stuff thatAbhorred recorded. This is the kind of an album that only a fewpeople in the world will find incredibly compelling and will getit. Do you like it weird? Do you like it extreme? Does this soundinteresting and does it make you curious? Are you one of the fewthat will get it? Nah you’re probably not one of those people….
