Reservoarpenna Montblanc Meisterstück 84, piston filler, 18c F

For sale is a 1960s Montblanc Meisterstück 84 in fully working condition. The pen is fitted with an 18c gold nib and ebonite feed. The cap and barrel are gold-filled.

The pen shows visible signs of use consistent with its age. There are two small dings on the cap, some scuffing on the clip, a crack in the Montblanc emblem/star, and areas of plating wear on the barrel. These details are clearly visible in the photographs, which form an important part of the description.

The last two photos show pages from a 1960s US Montblanc catalogue featuring the No. 84.

The catalogue lists the No. 84 at $55, compared with $33 for the Meisterstück 149 at the time. This places the No. 84 among Montblanc's premium fountain pens of the period, priced significantly above the 149 and the other models shown in the catalogue.

The Meisterstück XX series was designed by Albrecht Graf Goertz, the German industrial designer best known for his work with BMW. The series introduced a distinctly modern design to Montblanc's fountain-pen range during the 1960s.

The catalogue also states that Montblanc's higher-end pens were covered by a lifetime guarantee at the time.
