Description
Antique high-quality Japanese underglaze blue porcelain vase crafted in Seto, Japan’s historic ceramic centre.
Underglaze blue signature on base: ?? ?????? (Seto Kato Kihe sei).
Kato Kihe (?????) is a highly celebrated master potter of Seto ware. He is recognised as one of the leading artists of his generation, famous for refined, painterly blue-and-white decoration, widely collected by Japanese and international porcelain connoisseurs.

Rim diameter: 11.5 cm
The vase has an elegant pear shape with flared mouth.
Finely executed continuous scene painted in rich cobalt blue.
One side depicts paradise birds resting amid lush peony blossoms. The opposing side features pomegranate branches symbolising prosperity. The rim is finished with a precise geometric border motif.
Condition:
Excellent original antique condition. No chips, cracks or restorations. Only minor age-related wear as expected for antique ceramic.
