Beskrivning
From age to age, great beings imbued with divine authority incarnate into the human family, leaving behind an influence long associated with their names, such as Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed, Zoraster etc. Others blaze brightly for brief moments in time only to have their memory obscured or erased from the pages of history. Such a one was Apollonius of Tyana, the first century A.D. miracleworker, philosopher and spiritual light for eastern potentates, western emperors and the rich and poor alike.
His star shone and his fame spread from Tyana in Asia Minor to India, from Africa to Rome, from Babylon to Spain on the Atlantic Ocean! His teachings of the fatherhood of God, the brotherhood of man and the oneness of creation impacted the entire civilized world until Emperor Constantine in the 300’s of our modern era, ordered the temples dedicated to him razed to the ground and the books written about his life burned. The light of his being then faded into the recesses of history.
However, the flame never died, for one lone manuscript survived Constantine’s destruction: A biography by the Roman historian, Philostratus, based on the diaries of Damis, Apollonius’s beloved disciple. Was this biography secreted out of the Library of Alexandria before Constantine’s soldiers set it on fire, or was this one biography saved because it was in the emperor’s own library? We may never know, but survive it did.
And now, from this single ancient manuscript, the stranger-than truth tale of Apollonius comes alive once again through the compelling story telling of Charles DiFazio.
As new, large paperback, 475 pages. Owners library stamp on first page.
