Musik Der Toten ²³ är en av The New Movements mest konceptuellt laddade och fysiskt förankrade utgåvor – där gränsen mellan ljud, plats, död och dokumentation suddas ut.

Utgåvan består av 2×LP i limiterad upplaga (edition of 23), där varje exemplar är unikt.

Det som gör denna utgåva exceptionell är dess tillkomst:

23 dubbel-LP grävdes ner 23 inches i marken på en kyrkogård i Ljung, Sverige, natten mellan den 1:a och 23:e juli 2019, precis intill den 23:e gravstenen.

Materialet har således existerat i direkt kontakt med jord, plats och kontext – inte som symbolik, utan som faktisk handling.

Bakgrund / Inspiration:

Verket är tydligt inspirerat av Konstantin Raudive, pionjär inom EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena), som dokumenterade påstådda röster från de döda genom elektronisk inspelning.

I Raudives arbete fanns en idé om att ljud inte bara registrerar verkligheten – utan att det även kan fungera som ett medium för det som annars inte är hörbart.

Musik Der Toten ²³ tar detta ett steg längre.

Istället för att enbart spela in ljud från en plats, låter The New Movement själva mediet (vinylen) bli en del av experimentet – genom att exponera det för jord, tid, nedbrytning och den fysiska närvaron av platsen.

Resultatet är inte bara en inspelning – utan ett objekt som bär spår av sin omgivning.

Musik Der Toten ²³ is one of The New Movement’s most conceptually charged and physically grounded releases – where the boundary between sound, place, death and documentation dissolves.

The release consists of 2×LP in a limited edition (23 copies), where each copy is unique.

What makes this release exceptional is its origin:

23 double LPs were buried 23 inches in the ground at a cemetery in Ljung, Sweden, during the night between July 1st and July 23rd, 2019, next to the 23rd headstone.

The material has therefore existed in direct contact with earth, location and context – not symbolically, but as an actual act.

Background / Inspiration:

The work is directly inspired by Konstantin Raudive, pioneer of EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena), known for documenting alleged voices of the dead through electronic recording.

Raudive’s work proposed that sound recordings might capture more than audible reality – functioning as a medium for something beyond.

Musik Der Toten ²³ extends this idea further.

Instead of merely recording a location, The New Movement allows the medium itself (the vinyl) to become part of the experiment – exposing it to soil, time, decay and the physical presence of the site.

The result is not just a recording, but an object carrying traces of its environment.
