PRODUCT REVIEW
Chances are if you have attended a large club, gig, theatre or conference hall then you have seen and heard a line array set of speakers. You have probably thought that they are way out of your budget well guess again. Citronic have produced an active line array system of the highest quality and it is ultra-affordable too. Included in this package is 4 full-range speakers which in turn are all driven via the included subwoofer. These can then be arranged in various cluster forms, depending on position and application. The advantage of line array systems is the incredible projection they can offer due to the flexibility of positioning, however this has to be handled correctly. Included is the flying hardware for suspending, this also allows the system to fit different application situations flexibly with the splay angel adjustable by 1 increment vertically. Furthermore they has a built-in dsp controlled via pc. System control over each cluster at frequency response, crossover point & slope, delay, gain and limit protection can be achieved simply by connecting the speaker system to pc via rs232 port. Both a usb to rs232 cable and the software needed are included. Obviously the line array system is well thought out but the overall sound is still depends on it using well built speakers. Fear not, adoption of ribbon tweeters offers a wide-range frequency response to up to 40khz and the tweeter´s impedance and phase response curves are nearly ideal horizontal lines. The light moving mass of milligrams ensures excellent impulse response and utilization of the unique thin foam surround and specially coated cone paper has reduced the distortion rate effectively. Connecting is also straightforward, the subwoofer accepts the line input/output via xlr connectors, then the speakers are connected in a parallel fashion via the speakon input & output connectors. With effective fan cooling, overload, overheat, dc and maladjustment protection all onboard it is easy to run comfortably all night. Perhaps you have seen line array systems and thought they were either too expensive or complex for you to even consider but is both an affordable and simple way to bring stunning sound to a large venue. The best-value way to fill even the largest venues.
