Jag köpte verket 2017 på en antik- och loppmarknad i Kyoto, Japan, som heter Toji Temple and Kobo-ichi Market.

Den hålls den 21:a varje månad vid det fantastiska gamla templet Toji.

Denna målning använder blågrön landskapsteknik, där mineralpigment som malakitgrönt utgör huvudtonerna för att skildra berg, träd, vatten och andra naturscener. Denna målarstil har sitt ursprung i Sui- och Tangdynastierna, blomstrade under Songdynastin, och spreds senare till andra östasiatiska länder såsom Japan och Korea. Den kännetecknas av klara färger, tydliga lager och en stark visuell och dekorativ effekt.

Konstnären har använt en kombination av detaljerad (gongbi) och uttrycksfull (xieyi) teknik:

Bergens konturer är noggrant uppdragna med fina penseldrag, vilket ger målningen en tydlig struktur och kraftfull linjeföring.

Flera olika strukturtekniker (cun) används, bland annat "hampafiberteknik" och "yxhuggsteknik", vilket ger stenformationerna en stark textur och volym.

Background

It is held every month on the 21st in an amazing ancient temple - Toji.

This painting uses the blue-and-green landscape painting technique, with mineral pigments such as malachite green as the main tones to depict mountains, trees, water, and other elements of nature. This painting style originated in the Sui and Tang dynasties, flourished during the Song dynasty, and later spread to other East Asian countries such as Japan and Korea. It emphasizes vivid colors, clear layering, and possesses strong visual tension and decorative beauty.

The artist applied a combination of meticulous (gongbi) and expressive (xieyi) techniques:

The outlines of the mountains are rendered with fine brushstrokes, giving the composition a rigorous structure and upright lines.

Various texturing (cun) methods are used, including "hemp-fiber" and "axe-cut" strokes, giving the rocks a strong sense of texture and volume.

This symbolic trio has also spread throughout East Asia, including in Japanese and Korean art, where it continues to represent perseverance, harmony, and elegance.
