Beheritreleased Finland’s first full-fledged black metal album when thereleased the classic lo-fi black metal album, The Oath Of BlackBlood a year earlier than the by far more successful act ImpaledNazarene. They also did some visual frightening and outrageous liveperformances, complete with a full satan worshipping goat on stageshow. This gave the band a small but extremely dedicated cultfollowing. But after the albums Werewolf, Semen and Blood, MesseDes Morts and Drawing Down The Moon the band fell apart andvocalist/guitarist and founder Nuclear Holocausto Vengeance tookthe band into a whole new phase when he started to experiment withdarkwave and ambient synth sounds. First out was 1994’s enigmaticH418ov21.C (short for House 418 of 21st Century) that was the bandsfirst dark ambient recording, it would later be followed byElectric Doom Synthesis. H418ov21.C actually feels like it leftover interludes from Drawing Down The Moon. It has desolateelectronics and some black metal vocals that make this recordingfeel as occult as their earlier stuff. I would say that this albumis the perfect transition from black metal to what would come nextas the band keeps a lot of the overall Beherit vibe and sound fromthe earlier album. The next album, Electric Doom Synthesis, wouldabandon everything that was Beherit and had nothing to do withblack metal beyond the bands name.
