FromBirmingham, the home of heavy metal, Quartz have a long andestablished pedigree in the music business spanning over fivedecades. Their debut album in 1977 (released on Jet Records) wasproduced by Tony Iommi. During this time the band giggedextensively honing their craft having major support slots with thelikes of AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Rush, UFO and others. The Quartzback catalogue is quite extensive, Listen to Satan’s Serenade EP,Stand Up And Fight and Against All Odds LP’s if you are not alreadyfamiliar with them. They have released two further studio albumsFear No Evil and On The Edge Of No Tomorrow, both exceptionalalbums. Then in April of 2025 Quartz returned with the selfreleased Six album. The sixth studio album features twelve tracks,with two of them being written by the late Geoff Nichols (RIP), whoalso played with both Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. The currentline-up still boasts three of the original five founding members inMalcolm Cope (drums), Mick Hopkins (lead guitar) and Dek Arnold(bass) plus they are now rejoined by Geoff Bate on vocals who sangon Against All Odds that was released back in 1983.
