Inhuman Conditon is a death metal band that started in Floridain 2020. This isn’t a collection of 20-something crusties fromPortland, but a grizzled cast of veterans featuring ex-Death TerryButler (also ex-Obituary, Six Feet Under, ex-Massacre, and and and)on bass. Fellow Massacre alumni Taylor Nordberg (guitar) andJeramie Kling (drums and vocals) round out the group. The nameInhuman Condition is actually derived from a 1992 Massacre EP, andon their debut album Rat God, they even poach the EP’s font fortheir own logo. If you were wondering what the Massacre guys wereup to lately, this is one of their projects and a very fine one atthat, feast on it while you can. Rat God is pure early ‘90s insongwriting, tone, and (in some ways) production. Terry Butler’sbiggest credit with Death was Spiritual Healing, and Rat God drawson similar sonic inspiration. Unlike Spiritual Healing, though, RatGod is rather sparse. In other words, there’s more Death than ChuckSchuldiner on this record. Essentially, what I’m saying here isInhuman Condition feels like a return to form for Massacre. If youwant to pretend Promise never happened, and/or Spiritual Healing isyour favorite Death album, you should check out Rat God. If not, golisten to Sound Of Perseverance again. It slaps.
