Argentina 2 Centavos 1885

This is an Argentina 2 Centavos dated 1885, from the early national coinage of the Argentine Republic.
It is catalogued as KM#33 / CJ#27 and was struck by the Casa de Moneda de la Nación. The type was designed by the French engraver Eugène-André Oudiné, whose name appears beneath the Liberty portrait. Specifications are bronze, 10 g, 30 mm, plain edge, with coin alignment. The 1885 issue had a mintage of about 3.065 million pieces.
The dated side shows the Argentine national coat of arms beneath the inscription REPUBLICA ARGENTINA / 1885. The other side depicts Liberty facing left, wearing the Phrygian cap, with LIBERTAD / DOS CENTAVOS. This design belongs to Argentina's first standardized national monetary system established under the monetary reform of 1881.
Your example is better than average. Looking closely at both photographs, I would estimate approximately XF40–XF45, with an outside possibility of low AU if the apparent softness is primarily strike-related. The coat of arms retains excellent detail in the rays, flags, wreath and handshake, while Liberty still shows substantial hair and facial definition. The surfaces have an attractive old brown patina and I do not see obvious severe corrosion or damage.
I would be somewhat more conservative than calling it AU outright because there appears to be genuine friction on Liberty's hair, cheek and the highest portions of the arms.
For the 1885 date, Numista currently gives indicative values around €3 VF, €6 XF, €16 AU and €38 UNC. More importantly, actual sales show the jump in value for genuinely uncirculated pieces: 1885 examples described as UNC sold for about €26 in November 2024 and €64 in February 2025.
For this particular specimen I would estimate roughly:
Auction: 60–120 SEK
Collector retail: 100–175 SEK
If it proves AU in hand: perhaps 175–250 SEK
It is not a rare date, but it is a very attractive example of Argentina's early national bronze coinage. The 1882 and especially 1887 dates are the ones worth watching for in this series; the 1887 has a mintage of only about 363,000 and is substantially more valuable
